What is Toonie Tuesday?
ToonieTuesday is an initiative that started on Twitter (now called 'X'), to encourage donations to various charities or organisations supporting Ukraine in its defence against the Russian invasion. This Toonie Tuesday website is intended to provide a brief feedback of results in one place, and to make the initiative accessible for supporters who do not use Twitter.
Many supporters of Ukraine are experiencing 'Fundraiser Exhaustion'; there are so many people asking for help that it's overwhelming. Which are legit? Can I afford it? Is it going to the right place? This becomes an obstacle to donate.
Enter Toonie Tuesday. A 'Toonie' is a Canadian two dollar coin. Each Tuesday we will post one fundraiser for the week. It will be one that the team has vetted and where at least some of the team know the people involved.
What's required? Donate $2 and share on whatever type of social media you use. The initiative is mainly on Twitter (X) at the moment, but we'd like to expand to Facebook and other places.
Why $2? It won't break the bank, but if lots of people donate a small amount, it can add up to a significant sum.
